Doesn't work. Never will. Sure, scare tactics might work for a few - but let's face it, the rest of us just keep smoking. The fact is – if you want to give up smoking you've got to do it as a positive action. Which means, you're not simply giving up something ”bad” - you're making a positive change - becoming a smoke-free person. Imagine yourself as a nonsmoker:

Furthermore, If you're serious about quitting you need a strategy – a long-term plan. (Impulsive quitting rarely lasts more than a few days, or even hours.) First you need to fix in your mind the definite date you become a nonsmoker. Could be the beginning of the month; could be a birthday, anniversary, whatever. Just make sure it's a significant date you won't forget.
Give yourself at least 2 weeks to a month to prepare. Get it fixed in your mind that after that date you are a nonsmoker – someone who no longer smokes. From now to your quit date is the time to prepare - both mentally and your physical surroundings. How You Can Quit Too! If I can quit anyone can! Here's the story.
